AC/DC

I have had a bit of a mental block when it comes to the blog lately, although I'm certain this too shall pass. The reason is nothing particular other than at times writing things down feels slightly more laborious than enjoyable. However, I felt this event needed documenting.
This past Friday, September 22nd my friend and co-worker, Darren wed his lovely Amanda. Here is the happy couple just moments after the "I do's".
Brig and I head out to the big event
The O’Connor’s made it out to the ATL for the wedding festivities. It was great to have them in town!
These two lads made the trip over from Ireland and are good friends of Collin, Darren's younger bro. They were very kind and patient as our table discussion contained those "work" stories that only a few can appreciate.
Here are da girls. The quote of the night actually came from the fantastic Kristin O. We raised a glass to each other and in her words, "Cheers to a night with the girls...except oh yeah, my husband is here too." Never underestimate the bond between women. It was a very funny moment.
The bride is serenaded with Irish blessings by her new husband and his closest mates.
Darren and Donal entertain the party...tambourine playing and all...
Amanda can no longer refuse joining in on the singing and dancing..
Donal's version of "Wonder Wall" had us all out of our seats..
I love this picture of the O’Connor’s and Brigette. If it looks like they are having a great time that is because they truly are. Lots of laughter...
Definitely the happiest I have ever seen Darren. Here he is with Brig celebrating the start of a great marriage.
I laugh out loud every time I see this picture. I cannot be sure what has frightened Steve to this extent but apparently whatever it was has been lost on Kristin and me. We seem to see nothing out of the ordinary. Steve, Steve...
Ok, I guess a better shot is only fair. I like this picture..
Donal and Brig pose for the camera
Sometimes a great DJ and a dance floor result in pictures like this...it really cannot be helped.
Apparently the same rules apply for Brig as well...

Congrats to the Comers!! Get to know them here...

    Attacked

So last weekend we were barraged by a great weekend, a seriously angry set of greenery and a precious face. Here's how it all unfolded...
After a luscious Italian dinner at Osteria we headed out for a nightcap and desert at one of my favorite local Highland joints, Fritti..
It all seemed to be going fine. Here Brad and Colleen enjoy the first beautiful late summer evening just cool enough for a light cover..
Catherine and I enjoy a nice glass of vino...
Suddenly out of nowhere...ATTACKED...the lovely ambiance of Fritti became nothin but a trap. I thought Catherine would not survive...It really seemed to follow her...this little tree deal....
She did survive finally after a very crucial seating change. Here we are on the other side of the battle..
I thought the coast was clear until Saturday night when I was yet again bombarded by that "love" thing over our little Augusta. The Cook girls are glowing with happiness...
Even Uncle Eddie and Aunt Rena are completely taken by the little one..who wouldn't be really?
Collin couldn't quite bring himself to put down his fancy UGA golf club cover. It seemed to do the trick as UGA shut out Steve Spurier and the University of South Carolina 18-0!! The chicken wasn't bad either...just another great night with the Kesler-Cook's.

    Rearranged

If you should ever find yourself at the conclusion of a season, a bit bored and waking up to the screaming statement in your head, "I just have to move I mean nothing else I can do", really a good friend with a seriously brilliant idea is all you need. I just happened to have found myself in this situation with just such a friend this past week. Catherine who is as fun as it gets and also happens to have truly great taste, came to my aid just in time. When I say great taste, I mean like her fabulous little place for example..

    Lovely.
Catherine's most favorite thing in life, besides being a successful and brilliant teacher to some of the luckiest high school students in town, is to decorate. Clearly we see why. Fortunately, she decided to unleash her decorating self on me by demanding we attack my apartment with the clear intension of making it the cutest place on the block. Sadly, thousands of dollars would be required to realize its full potential but we gave it a serious shot...
So after a full creative planning session over oysters at Fontaine's (Atlanta's Finest) we headed out for some inspiration.
One of my favorite stores in the neighborhood. If you can't find something you like here, you should probably just go home. We found plenty to scream about. Full of fun ideas, we headed home to what used to look like this..
I mean fine enough but blah..
I can't even go into detail on the problems here, but you can see why it needed a change. However, after some serious man hours...the result..

    SO MUCH MORE FUN!
This fantastic red chair lived with my Grandmother and was my absolute favorite thing she owned. Today it gives me a little smile every time I walk across the room.
Here it is again, stylish in any room.
Such a great little table...thank you Randee...
The kitchen. A pot rack should be a requirement in every kitchen really. Makes you want to cook up a little something..
With a few jazzy little joints like this only a flight of stairs below..
A festive little balcony...Rima, it's the coconut! Did you paint that?
    a backyard full of fun...
Coupled with the very thought of ever having to move another piece of furniture for the remainder of my life...I can report with 100% certainty that my little itch for moving has been completely cured...THANK YOU CATHERINE!
